Dr. Nishek grew up in Statesville, NC and attended North Iredell High School. He graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Appalachian State University then received his Doctorate of Optometry with clinical honors at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia in 2000.
He has worked as a staff Optometrist at the Beckley, WV Veterans Affairs Medical center gaining extensive clinical experience in the medical management of retinal, glaucoma, and corneal diseases.
Dr. Nishek enjoys working with patients of all ages. He completed a three month externship in the Pediatric Clinic at the Eye Institute examining children as young as newborns. He also travels to a local nursing home to provide medical eye care to the residents.
Dr. Nishek is a member of the American Optometric Association, the North Carolina State Optometric Society, and is a past president of the Catawba Valley Optometry Society. He is also a member of the Lincolnton Rotary Club and the Lincolnton/ Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. He attends First Presbyterian Church in Lincolnton. In his time away from the office, he enjoys playing racquetball, following ASU athletics, and spending time with his "girls" - 5 year old Isabel, 8 year old Lindy, and wife Christy.
